(Hmm, those "talks" in LA must have been pretty good!)
"[Bernadette] Peters, meanwhile, will star as Mrs. Leaf in the ABC sitcom pilot "Adopted." Twentieth Century Fox TV laffer revolves around a grown man who discovers he has two very different mothers --- Peters' character being one of them.
The stage star's most recent credits include the telepic "Prince Charming" and guest stints on "Frasier" and "Ally McBeal," as well as the features "It Runs in the Family" and "Let It Snow." "
I'm speechless.

But let's not get *too* hopeful-pilots do get canceled...
I hate to even mention this-I may regret it...I wonder if Patti got her pilot?
Uh oh.
(Not that I think they were up for the same show.)
I don't watch much network TV-how's ABC doing lately? I know they were struggling a while back.
Who wants to start the bets-is she playing the adoptive mother or the biological mother?
If they're going for wacky, colorful Bernadette...I'll say surprise!
But,sheesh...go Bernadette! What news.

Oh, I know pilots usually don't work out, but this would be so great if it did amount to something.

From: northern VA | posted: 3/9/2005 at 8:45:14 AM ET I googled the show, and came up with this. There's not a lot yet,of course, but it's something:
"comedy about a thirtysomething writer whose life is turned upside down when his biological mom shows up on his doorstep one day, resulting in his adoptive and birth mothers comically competing for his attention"
Info from RateItAll
Info from TV Tome
(Age is different in two links, but it could have changed, especially after casting.)
Here's some good news-the creators came from the Groundlings comedy troupe. That's promising-it's based on a sketch they did while in the group.
Well,look at Miss Bernadette...
Hey,L.A. area fans-now the East Coasters may have some serious reasons to be jealous of you!

| posted: 3/9/2005 at 10:40:05 AM ET I KNEW something like this was coming down the line with all of her "talks" in L.A.. Well this has exciting potential. And remember all you "pilots don't usually work out" people, every successful TV show started out as a pilot so some do make it and make it big. Good Thoughts to Bernadette and the rest of the cast (its taping in 2 weeks people, finish casting it already) on their taping.

We'll just have to send out good thoughts to Bernadette and the rest of the cast on March 23--don't we know anyone on the left coast who can go to the taping??

| posted: 3/9/2005 at 11:57:21 AM ET LOL Good point Jean. Not exacatly the "Mother" figure you would expect. Though at least she didn't have the tatoo. LOL One would think with Bernadette's youthful looks she would be the birth mother and maybe she had to give the baby up because she was so young at the time. Just my theory. I actually contemplated taking a trip to L.A. for the pilot but its right in the middle of my first week back after a trip to London so I can't work it out. Would be fun to be there.

(Moljul-you go directly to LA from London, don't worry about sleep or jet lag-you're young.)
And thanks as usual Jenn, for finding the details for us.

No husbands/lovers/adult males on the scene? What is the demographic they are looking to appeal to? Besides all of us, of course.
I wonder how they will use-if they do-the birth mother's Jewishness? I see a food fight episode coming!

Both adoptive and biological mother roles aren't cast yet. Either way, good luck to the cast and crew (especially BP!!!!) Can't wait to see the show (fingers crossed!)
